Love in the Moonlight Reunion: Ten Years Later, the Cast Returns to Their Story

Ten years after Love in the Moonlight first aired in 2016, its five main cast members came together again—not for another historical drama, but for a trip down memory lane.

Park Bo-gum, Kim Yoo-jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin, and Kwak Dong-yeon reunited for KBS2’s two-part anniversary special, Love in the Moonlight: Redrawn (Gureumi Dasi Geurin Dalbit).

The special follows the five actors on a two-day, one-night trip to Hongcheon, Gangwon Province. They spend time together as friends, revisit scenes from the drama, and bring out the original costumes that once belonged to their characters.

For anyone who remembers Crown Prince Lee Yeong and Hong Ra-on, seeing the cast together again feels like opening a favorite book and discovering that its characters have been living their lives all along.

What Happens in the Love in the Moonlight Reunion Special?

The anniversary trip begins with a very different kind of royal adventure.

Instead of palace corridors and elegant silk robes, the cast members are dressed in life jackets and helmets, ready for a summer day on the river.

There is Lee Yeong’s royal attire, Ra-on’s flowing hanbok, and the distinctive costumes of the other characters.

For viewers, these are instantly recognizable outfits. For the actors, they are reminders of the characters they once became—and of the younger versions of themselves who wore them.

The cast changes into the costumes and poses together for a new group portrait.

The five actors also came together for a special September 2026 editorial with ELLE Korea, wearing hanbok and posing against the beautiful backdrop of a traditional Korean house.

The reunion itself offers another journey back in time, as the cast revisits memorable scenes from the original drama—moments that still feel familiar to viewers ten years later.

It is not quite the same as watching the drama again. This time, the actors are looking back with us.

The Evening That Turns the Reunion Emotional

As the trip continues into the evening, the playful mood gradually gives way to something more reflective.

The cast revisits the romance and friendships that made the original drama memorable, including scenes and music associated with Lee Yeong and Ra-on.

The lanterns are an especially lovely visual reminder of Love in the Moonlight and its romantic atmosphere.
